Contact Paper : Tissue Paper Flowers

Henry and I had a little fun with some tissue paper! We made two different types of flowers for my mom's Mother's Day bouquet.

Contact Paper Flowers:

Henry got to work cutting up different colors of tissue paper [sneaking in some scissors practice]. I had tissue paper with dots and stars on it, too. Those were his favorites.

I laid out a piece of contact paper, right side up on the table.

[I took a tip from Melissa at The Chocolate Muffin Tree and taped down the edges so it wouldn't curl up.]

Henry and I stuck the pieces of tissue paper that he cut onto the contact paper to make a tissue paper collage. Then flattened them out as much as possible, and covered with another piece of contact paper.

 I got my cutting practice in too! I cut lots of flower shapes out of the tissue paper collage.

Henry chose buttons and pipe cleaners for each flower and I hot glued them on.

Speaking of pipe cleaners, Henry got a kick out of making shapes with them. He made a T at first and was thrilled that he could do it. Then made an R and a bridge!

Tissue Paper Flowers:

We also made flowers out of just the tissue paper. We made these for the Valentine's Tissue Wreath, only this time Henry drew on the circles with markers instead of dipping them in paint.
