Playtime Series : Let the Children Play

------------
Meet Jenny from Let the Children Play!
------------

Jenny is the author behind the blog, Let the Children Play. Her name explains her philosophy loud and clear. The posts she writes are definitely reminders to just let the children play!

Jenny is an Australian, mom to two boys, and a preschool teacher that has a love for progressive education.

She may not teach her preschool class the typical teaching way [especially compared to here in the US] that we're used to seeing in a classroom. As with all of us Playtime Hosts, she's a firm believer in child-let activities, and it being the best way for children to learn.

let the children play: play based learning

When I think of Let the Children Play, I see groups of children working together, collaborating in their activities, making things happen. You can find children making obstacle courses or even a mud kitchen and many more inspirational, child-led activities.

Music Art : Tin Can Drums

music art: tin can drums

Since Father's Day is this coming Sunday, and his Dad used to be a drummer,
I thought these would make a perfect gift from Henry!
[I may fill them up with some goodies before Sunday, too!]

Outdoor Music : DIY Windchimes

A DIY upcycled windchime.

Henry and I rummaged through our recycling bins to find some tin cans in various shapes and sizes, including some lids.

[I taped around the rims of the cans to prevent any cuts.]

Using his trusty green basting paintbrush,

Outdoor Play : Tin Can Forest

A forest in the sandbox for the Forest Fiesta!

Henry and I made a real forest with upcycled tin cans, tree branches and a few plants.

Henry loves picking up sticks at Grandma's house. So that's just what he did.
While he added the biggest branches he could find to Grandma's twig pile,

Outdoor Play : Firewood Sculpture

Henry got to camp overnight with Grandma and Grandpa last weekend.
We joined them for the night for fire-cooked pizzas and s'mores.

Before building the fire, a giant stack of firewood was begging to be played with.
Henry and I began to build a sculpture.
[Mostly assembled by myself, with Henry's assistance.]

Balancing the firewood to get it to stay took great care.
Finding the right place to set a piece up against, so the others didn't fall, did as well.
Henry didn't slow down with any frustrations,
