Easter Egg Hunt

A few of the family kids [all boys!] got together on Easter
and did a quick egg hunt in the back yards.

It was great to get outside.
I have to 'fess up and say I didn't make the Outdoors in April challenges.
This last week has been hectic with Easter at the bakery and the boys having colds,
along with the weather being pretty crappy,
we just didn't make it outside much at all.

Here, the boys are off to find the eggs!

Painting Easter Eggs : Feature by Mama Pea Pod

I just recently found Jane's blog, Mama Pea Pod, through our weekly party It's Playtime.

Jane has two small girls so her crafts and playing seem like a breath of fresh air to me.
Her Princess Pea just recently had a Rainbow Birthday Party that looks like it was a lot of fun!

But, what caught my eye were these Painted Easter Eggs
and what other fun that ended up being had with them.

Here's Mama Pea Pod, Jane:
-------------------------------------------------

We got out the paints, the plastic tablecloth, the eggs, some brushes, and a couple of damp rags.

Princess Pea used brushes and IKEA paint to paint hers.
She made spots, splotches, lines, and a handprint.
She learned a bit of color-mixing along the way.

Then she painted Grandma.

Sweet Pea used the fingerpaints.
She squashed the paint up in her hands,
then grabbed the eggs, smearing the paint over them in the process.
They were slippery and hard to hold on to,
which resulted in lots of paint smearing as she kept fumbling and trying to catch them.
-------------------------------------------------

Henry's First Egg Decorating

This is Henry's first year of actually trying to do some egg decorating.
We tried some new [to me] techniques this year.
I got inspired by the 26 Ideas and Techniques for Egg Decorating list

Henry, my mom and I tried 4 techniques.

Rolling Eggs & Balls Painting

rolling eggs painting

I decided to take this art activity outside.

It took Henry awhile to get into it.
At first, he only wanted to play with his dump truck and stack the paints in it.

I started by showing him what we'd do to spark some interest.
Henry joined me soon after.

This activity was inspired by Tinkerlab's Rolling Easter Egg Painting
But, Henry created and played with the paints in his own way.
